The Washington Light Infantry of Charleston, South Carolina, built this monument in 1856 at the end of the Battle of Cowpens to remember the important victory of the Americans at this battle. The monument has been changed some since it was originally built, but it is still in its original location. This monument is the oldest monument that was built in recognition of the Battle of Cowpens.
The U.S. Memorial Monument was built in 1932 to remember all of the men who fought at the Battle of Cowpens.
